If it's the case that RetroPie is a standalone, should I "wipe" the pre-installed NOOBS disk image that came already installed on the SD Card?Ĭurrently, I'm using a MacBook Pro w/OSX Mavericks 10.9.5. Or is RetroPie a "standalone", which will not require me to first install Raspbian from the NOOBS image ? Should I start off by installing Raspbian from the NOOBS Build screen that came pre-loaded on my SD card?. Now I'm watching tutorials on setting up RetroPie and I'm a little confused and had a few quick questions :)

My primary goal with this current project is to start simple, and set up the "RetroPie" to emulate some old video games.

I've got everything powered on, with HDMI connected to a monitor, and the NOOBS Build window appearing on the display. I originally purchased the "Raspberry Pi B+ Ultimate Starter Kit" from Amazon, which includes an 8GB SD Card w/NOOBS pre-installed. I've managed to install everything into the case, along with the heatsink that came with my Starter Kit.
